with Simon Borg-Olivier in Ljubljana
This 5-day event will take place from Saturday, 06.09.2025 to Wednesday, 10.09.2025. It is composed of two parts:
2- Day Weekend Workshop: A 5-DIMENSIONAL FLOW IMMERSION, from Saturday, 06.09.2025 to Sunday 07.09.2025 (every day from 8:00 to 15:45)
3- Day In-Depth Workshop: A 5-DIMENSIONAL FLOW IMMERSION, from Monday, September 8, 2024, to Wednesday, September 10, 2024 (from 8:00 to 15:45 each day)
Event Description
Join us for a 5-day intensive workshop with Simon Borg-Olivier, MSc BAppSc (Physiotheraphy), APAM c-IAYT – internationally acclaimed teacher, author and co-founder of the Yoga Synergy method, integrating over 45 years of expertise in yoga, physiotherapy, anatomy, breathwork, qigong, and traditional movement systems.
A 5-Dimensional Flow Immersion offers a holistic approach that focuses on the synergy of movement, breath, awareness, and the physiology of the modern body. Each day, we will explore the main principles of 5-dimensional movement, designed to improve spinal health, initiate movement from the core, and master the subtle art of breathing less.
5 DIMENSIONS - 5 COMPONENTS:
1. SPINAL SYNERGY: Emphasis on a natural, flowing and safe spine. Learn Simon’s unique Spinal Movements system to release tension, develop strength effortlessly, and maintain vitality through dynamic motion.
2. JOINT SYNERGY: Learn how to activate joints in a way that supports the whole system – enabling greater freedom of movement with less wear and tear. Explore the principles of “moving from the center” and safe joint mobility in your movement practice.
3. MIND SYNERGY: Cultivate awareness, focus, and presence through meditation in motion and stillness, mantra chanting, and subtle body sensing. Learn how attention can become your most powerful tool for embodied practice.
4. BREATH SYNERGY: Breathwork for the modern nervous system. Return to natural, slower breathing patterns. Learn to use breathing muscles effectively to breathe less, regenerating your system, boosting energy, and calming your body.
5. CORE SYNERGY: Move from your center – using inner currents of breath, pressure, and spiraling lines to generate effortless power. Learn how to activate deep muscles and connect your pelvic floor, diaphragm, and abdominal center.
5 DIMENSIONS = 5-D SYNERGY FLOW: A fully integrated practice that weaves all the elements together – synergy yoga, joint mobility, self-massage, breath techniques, guided instruction, music, mantras, and movement principles from qigong, martial arts, and traditional systems.
As the workshop progresses, the practice will deepen and become more physically demanding. All techniques are adaptable to individual needs – variations, props, and chair-based practice will be available.
Who is this workshop for?
This immersion is open to dedicated practitioners, yoga teachers, as well as enthusiasts, beginners, or anyone who simply enjoys movement and wants to:
✓ Deepen their personal practice.
✓ Expand their movement capabilites.
✓ Gain new teaching tools.
✓ Understand the connection between breath, movement, and physiology.
✓ Experience a safe, holistic and intelligent movement system.
The workshop will be held in English. Slovenian translations will be available for additional questions and clarifications.
Schedule
Each day combines a deeply meditative morning practice containing fluid movement and internal techniques, followed by a deeper afternoon session exploring traditional yoga forms like asana, pranayama, and kriya through the Synergy System, integrating the morning flow, theory and therapeutic insight.

Who is Simon Borg Olivier?
Simon Borg-Olivier is a physiotherapist, certified yoga therapist, and co-creator of YogaSynergy. With over 40 years of teaching experience, Simon has guided thousands worldwide to improve their health, movement, and breathing through a unique fusion of traditional wisdom and modern science.
He combines his background in physiotherapy, yoga, and biomechanics to create accessible practices that foster strength without tension, flexibility without pain, and energy without overexertion. Whether you're a seasoned teacher or a curious beginner, Simon’s methods can help you achieve balance, vitality, and longevity.
The Creation of 5-D Synergy Flow
A few words from Simon, explaining how 5-D Synergy Flow came to life.
In the 1990s, after ten years of teaching primarily within the Iyengar and Ashtanga systems, my brilliant Yoga Synergy co-founder, Bianca Machliss, and I realised these approaches were ineffective for most people. This led us to develop a more accessible version of the Ashtanga sequence, primarily based on its core standing and floor postures, integrating elements from the Primary and Secondary Ashtanga Series. At more advanced levels, we incorporated postures from the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Series of Ashtanga practice.
To create a structured and systematic approach, we integrated all the postures found in both Ashtanga and Iyengar Yoga into our five primary sequences, which we named after the five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether.
Additionally, we developed a sixth sequence, called the Yoga Fundamentals Series, which served as a foundational, accessible version of all five sequences.
Refining the Practice for Accessibility
Over the last decade, I’ve found that teaching the original five sequences in their entirety has become too difficult for most people. While these sequences are highly effective for individuals with a strong movement background, they are simply too challenging for the average person.
However, when simplified into its most accessible form, the Yoga Synergy Fundamentals Sequence remains incredibly effective and beneficial. One of the key reasons I have streamlined my teaching in this way is that, while it is possible to teach postures in great detail—using precise muscular activation and relaxation cues—this often becomes an overwhelming "head trip" for students. The complexity of consciously engaging one muscle while relaxing another can create unnecessary physical and physiological stress.
The Evolution to 5D Synergy Flow
I found a more practical approach: instead of teaching static postures with precise muscle activations, I introduced ‘active’ and ‘resisted’ movements and postures that mimic the shape of the pose before entering it and what you are meant to be trying to do when you are in the posture (offering resistance, e.g. pressing one limb against another).
For example, if I’m twisting to the right, with my left hand on the outside of my right knee, I can first practice the movement without touching the knee, actively twisting to the right. However, as soon as my left arm connects to my right knee, the action should reverse—I should be twisting left against the resistance of my arm.
Rather than explaining this concept in a static posture, which often leads to confusion and excessive effort, I found that practicing these active movements before entering the pose yields significantly better results.
This approach led to the development of 5D Synergy Flow, where instead of simply performing postures, I created a system of movements before and after each posture that align with the 5D Flow System—where all movement originates from your core.
The 5D Flow movements help students develop natural muscular activation and engagement (offering resistance) within the pose itself—but this resistance is generated from their core. This method became so effective that it eventually evolved into a standalone practice.
The Foundation of 5D Synergy Flow
In my in-person trainings and certain online sessions, I dedicate morning practices to teaching 5D Flow, a system that focuses on moving from the core in five different ways within three-dimensional space.
This is where the concept of five dimensions comes into play. Your core can move in five main ways (‘dimensions’) within three-dimensional space, which I have aligned with the five elements:
Moving Upwards & Downwards (EARTH)
Moving Forwards & Backwards (FIRE)
Moving Side to Side (WATER)
Rotating/Twisting in Any Direction (AIR)
Expanding & Contracting (ETHER)
This system became the foundation of what I now call "Living from Your Core."
